About the Authors

Lee Elliott Rambo and Jim Larkin met as students at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill and have been close friends ever since. This is their first collaboration.

Lee is a former second-grade teacher in the New York
City and Charlotte, NC public school systems. She received
her Master's degree in elementary education from Columbia
University Teachers College, and has worked on Capitol
Hill as an education advisor and on the faculty of the
University of South Carolina as a teacher mentor. Today
she lives in Columbia, SC with her husband, William,
and their children, Elizabeth and Will. |

Jim is a writer, editor and creative consultant in New York City. He has worked extensively on advertising and branding projects with numerous major corporations, including J.Crew, Ann Taylor, Getty Images, Bergdorf Goodman, Eddie Bauer and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. His articles have appeared in Travel + Leisure and Time Out New York magazines. Jim began his career as a speechwriter to the U.S. Secretary of Education.
